2024 in review
Ryan Gareis gave birth to her son in May and came back to playing for the Dash in September. Gareis worked herself back into the team and was a starter for the final five matches of the season.
Gareis returned to the field on September 15 away against the Washington Spirit, getting into the game for the final 15 minutes. After another substitute appearance the following week at home against Seattle Reign, Gareis got her first start of the year on September 28th at Orlando. She then started the following four games to close out the season. She played a season-high 72 minutes in the 2-0 win at San Diego.
Moment of the season
It isn’t so much a moment, but a whole match, but Gareis had her best game of the season in Seattle in the 2-1 loss to the Reign. She had 2 shots on target, 4 progressive passes, and 5 progressive carries. Gareis was able to get free a lot on the left wing in this match and show her pace and ability to get behind defenses.
Looking forward
Gareis is under contract for 2025 and will have a full offseason to train and prepare for the new season. Depending on who the new coach is and what system they play, Gareis could compete for a starting position on the left wing. At just 26 years old, as of last week, Gareis showed great determination and work ethic to get back on the field this season and it should drive her to a bigger 2025.
