Houston Dynamo at D.C. United player ratings

The Houston Dynamo rallied from behind to demolish D.C. United 4-1 on the road. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Steve Clark-8

Looking at the stat sheet, his night doesn’t seem too impressive with only two saves. One of his two saves was a incredible reaction save at a moment in the game where the momentum could have went either way. Games are won in lost in moments like that.

Griffin Dorsey-6

Griffin was weirdly not involved in this match as he typically is for the Dynamo. They went for a more direct approach to embrace the scrappiness of the way D.C. United play and Dorsey’s talents were sacrificed in that game script. He still had a good game defensively and didn’t do anything wrong really.

Erik Sviatchenko-8

Erik was a monster in the back, especially in the second half when DC were chasing the game. Offensively, he looked really good playing out of the back and caused some havoc on a set piece.

Micael-8

Like Erik, Micael was very dominant in the second half. He made four tackles and was able to control the game out of the back.

Daniel Steres-9

Daniel would have been man of the match if Sebas didn’t score a hat trick. He was huge on both sides of the ball, making two tackles and creating two goals. He took full advantage of the space left when D.C. went down to ten men to combine with Brad Smith to help score two goals.

Artur-5

Artur was mostly good outside of the moment where he gave away a penalty for D.C. to open the scoring. He never really stood out and the game really never played to his strengths. He certainly was not bad, however.

Hector Herrera-8

Hector was terrific as always. He took a little bit of a back seat compared to his usual self where he normally makes over 100 touches. He created multiple opportunities and was at the heart of everything for this team.

Amine Bassi-6

This was an ugly game for Bassi in a setting that never played to his strengths. He did manage to pick up an assist in the most scrappy way possible, but overall his game was not as strong as usual.

Latif Blessing-6

While Blessing has been praised lately for his goal scoring, this was more of a typical Blessing performance where his work rate shined more than his abilities on the ball. Defensively, he played a massive role and moved the ball around well in his limited opportunities.

Aliyu Ibrahim-5

Like Blessing, his work rate was huge, but he did nothing when it came to getting on the score sheet. Only one shot for Aliyu is not good enough for his caliber of forward.

Sebas Ferreira-10 (MOTM)

Nobody saw this coming. Sebas, who has been in and out of the team for two seasons now whether through injury or not fitting in with the team, went on to score the first hat trick on the road in club history. As Ben Olsen said, this was the perfect environment for a scrappy player like Sebas who thrives on those half chances in the box.

Substitutes

Brooklyn Raines-6

Brooklyn got some good minutes where he usually sees less than ten coming off the bench. He played his role well in seeing out the game. Nothing much more to mention with him.

Sebastian Kowalczyk-7

Sebastian was about to make an awesome highlight reel if he wasn’t taken out while doing that flick. That move gave D.C. another red card, making it even easier for the Dynamo to see out the game.

Brad Smith-9

Brad came on and took advantage of the wide spaces left with the ten, and later nine men, for D.C. United. He popped up with two assists, so what more can you ask for from a substitute?

Gabe Segal-7

Like Brad, what more can you ask for from a substitute striker that comes on and scores a goal? It was really nice to see Gabe back on the score sheet after a long drought.

Tate Schmitt-N/A

Not even sure what the point of that substitution was when he really didn’t even get to play.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen-9

Four goals and three points on the road. What’s better than that? It was great to see Ben return to his old city and put on a show. This was a near perfect scoreline for any team on the road to get. Now, to keep up the momentum and replicate this going further, is the next task.
