HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On clinching a playoff spot:

“We are excited about being in the postseason. That’s a big deal, and these guys have worked hard for it all year. That’s definitely a positive. Now we have a tough team in New England coming into town, so we have to rest, get back to work and start focusing on Wednesday.”

On the result:

“We’re disappointed with not getting something out of tonight’s game. We worked extremely hard, and it was a good first twenty minutes, but then Seattle started to take over, which is when they scored. The second half was even, and we had control of the game, but we were a little loose in the final third. Seattle is a good defensive, well-balanced team, so you have to be dynamic, quick and sharp with decisions to get past them. We’ll turn the page quickly.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER ERIK SVIATCHENKO

On clinching a playoff spot:

“We are in the playoffs, which is what we aimed for when we started this season. I am proud of that. In tonight’s game, we were doing okay, but then Seattle scored a goal. Overall, it was a tight game, and they played well, but we defended well. We fought for the win, but we didn’t have it in the final third to get an equalizer. It’s a quick turnaround, and we will push to get the three points against New England.”

On pushing to move up the table:

“We are far from done and have a lot to prove to ourselves and the world that we can finish strong. In my world, it would be a dream to finish with all nine points because that kind of momentum would be great going into the playoffs. It was a close game tonight, but sometimes you just lose a game. It’s about how you react, and we will be ready for Wednesday.”
